Designing behavioral systems that translate intentions into measurable action

A scalable, multichannel ecosystem (digital, physical, experiential) that leverages behavioral science and design to guide users from intent to action.stakeholders.

OVERVIEW

Happy Thinkers is a behavioral design system that successfully solved the pervasive challenge of the intention-action gap, the failure to translate good intentions into consistent, measurable behavior. This scalable ecosystem translates abstract goals into actionable steps. The project started with low-tech tools (planners, wristbands, gamified kits) to maximize early adoption and emotional engagement, later integrating web and digital experiences as decision-guided touchpoints to create a clear roadmap between intentions and actions.

The work required blending Brand Strategy, product design, digital UX, and experiential design to guide users through the full behavioral journey. A colorful, uplifting brand style reinforced motivation, playfulness, and approachability, a crucial design decision that balanced accessibility with evidence-based rigor. The system supports individual goal-setting, habit formation, and collective engagement in organizations aiming for measurable growth.

Role

Founder, Creative Lead, and Strategic Advisor / Brand Steward. During the growth phase, I drove the end-to-end creative strategy and served as the Brand Steward, ensuring a cohesive vision across all multichannel outputs (print, digital, workshops). I collaborated with behavioral specialists on system definition and Art Direction to ensure high-impact interventions. Successfully built a self-sustaining business ecosystem, allowing me to transition to a Strategic Advisor role with no direct operational involvement.

Impact

Scale & Reach: Engaged over 8,000 users across Colombia, Australia, and Europe.

Behavioral Results: User surveys revealed the vast majority reported stronger commitment and long-term engagement with their goals.

Business/System Proof: Proved highly adaptable across companies, communities, and digital products, validating the scalability of the core behavioral framework.

Program Success: Strengthened organizational behavior programs and employee wellbeing initiatives, leading to measurable collective engagement and B2B client acquisition

AI-Enhanced Workflow
As part of the design process, AI tools were integrated to streamline creative and production workflows — from building visual moodboards and generating SEO-friendly text variations, to adapting layouts for multiple digital formats. These tools accelerated ideation and consistency across campaign deliverables while maintaining the emotional and behavioral goals of the system.

Framework

Born from research and collaborative design, this framework serves as the core of the Happy Thinkers Behavioral Design System. It is a modular, scalable model that bridges the intention–action gap by defining a consistent user journey: Intentions Insights Actions. This structure ties together the entire multichannel brand experience (website flow, physical tools, digital spaces, and visual identity).

Challenges

Overcoming Generic Goal Setting & Low Adoption. Generic goals ignored user realities and inhibited adoption.

Designing a Flexible System for Diverse Behaviors. High variance in user intentions and capacities required a flexible model.

Multi-Channel Accessibility & Action Friction. Friction from digital reliance prevented goal achievement for many users.

Aligning Interventions with Corporate Brand & Culture. Corporate clients needed tailored interventions that fit their existing brand and culture.

Overcoming Cognitive Overwhelm (The Intention-Action Gap). Users struggled to define concrete actions from desired outcomes, leading to inaction.

Solutions

Designed tools and flows to guide planning, break down actions, and adapt goals progressively, aligning the system with sustainable behavioral routines.

Developed a structured, behavioral framework (across ten dimensions) that enabled tools and web flows to adapt and personalize based on individual goals and motivation.

Launched with low-tech physical tools for immediate adoption and emotional connection, strategically integrating digital tools later for progress tracking and social accountability.

Created a modular brand system that allowed for customized toolkits and branding while consistently ensuring measurable outcomes and high user adoption.

Applied Choice Architecture and Framing via structured flows to guide users, clarifying intentions and reframing success as consistent action to overcome immediate/delayed gratification gaps.

Motion design was incorporated into the brand identity with an animated logo, which was featured in campaigns and social media ads to highlight the values that compose the logo of Happy Thinkers (creativity, curiosity, design, science).

System adaptation & B2B work

At the heart of these collaborations was always the same challenge: how to help large organizations turn intentions into sustained actions—whether for individual wellbeing, collective habits, or systemic culture. This required adapting the core behavioral design system to unique B2B contexts, proving its modularity and scalability across corporate and educational sectors.
